Transmission in Ubuntu Linux comes as a default BitTorrent client that can be used to download torrent files directly from the internet to your computer. It uses underlying bitTorrent client to download the files to your computer. Today’s article we try to install this GUI client in your computer.
Step 1 Open Ubuntu Command console
To install Transmission we use command line interface in your flavor of Ubuntu. You can open the command line interface from the application list using launcher.
Step 2 Add Transmission repository to your Ubuntu
To download transmission, we need to tell Ubuntu its location, thus for that we add PPA repository of transmission using the below command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:transmissionbt/ppa
Step 3 Update the system software
Below update command will update the software to latest and purge the cache
sudo apt-get update
Step 4 Install Transmission on Ubuntu
And finally, you can run the command to install Transmission torrent downloader in Ubuntu.
sudo apt-get install transmission-gtk transmission-cli transmission-common transmission-daemon
Step 5 Run this torrent program
Open the transmission application from the Application list
